Huron River Fly Fishing Club Sign Project

The Huron River, flowing from Oakland County to Lake Erie is one of the few “Blue Ribbon” urban fisheries in America. An outstanding smallmouth bass stream, many miles are also designated as “Country Scenic River” under the Natural Rivers Act. For many years, a six-mile portion of this river has been designated as no-kill for largemouth and smallmouth bass. Unfortunately, the original Department of Natural Resources signage is no longer in existence (the signs simply deteriorated and were never replaced). Our club has taken up the cause (with DNR and MetroParks approval) of replacing these signs with more permanent signage.

The catch and release area is: Huron R. from Mast Rd. Bridge in Dexter (T1S, R5E, Sec. 32) downstream to Delhi Rd. Bridge (T2S, R5E, Sec. 2) catch and release only on largemouth and smallmouth bass
